BDMS Southern Group clinches a historic deal with Custom Assurance Placements to provide unique benefits for all international patients coming for elective procedures.

BDMS Southern Group hospitals are strategically located in top tourist destinations across Southern Thailand. Apart from their stronghold in the local/Thai market segment, they account for an ever-increasing number of international patients coming from near and far. Each year, the group attracts a combined 300,000 international patients, who find the “BDMS” brand to be trustworthy and up to world-class standards of healthcare. Through collaboration with Custom Assurance Placements, LTD. (CAP), a leading international specialty insurance/brokerage provider from the US, the group has initiated to offer a host of services including Medical Complication Coverage for all international clients in a bid to enhance their satisfaction and healthcare experience. It will be rolled out in Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Phuket International Hospital, and Bangkok Hospital Samui. The soft launch is on 11 July 2016, with official commencement on 1 August 2016.

Dr. Kongkiat Kespechara, CEO Group 6, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (PLC) & Managing Director, noted, “We are very proud to blaze a trail and it is the first time in the world that complication and specialized medical tourism benefits are  included in a procedure/package of a hospital. Although our hospitals are in constant pursuit of medical excellence and our complication rate is very low, we know that every procedure, no matter where it is performed has some risk. That is why our group has kicked off the complication and specialized medical tourism benefits to further secure our clients’ peace of mind and cope with any unexpected post-procedure situations in the most professional and caring manner. It is also noteworthy that the collaboration with CAP, which is a leading specialty lines insurance broker, reflects our hospital group’s commitment to international standards of excellence in healthcare, as evidenced by accreditation from JCI International, USA. And on our hospitals’ part, we highly value total accountability and strive to optimize patients’ experience in a sustainable and long-term manner, which is true to our “Continuum of Care” philosophy.”

The move will fill a gap in international patients’ healthcare by insuring them against arising medical complications up to 350,000 Baht (Terms & Conditions apply). The plan shall be in force over a period of 90 days from the date of a medical procedure. There is additional expense coverage up to 350,000 Baht for travel and accommodations (should the insured needs to travel back for a revision or corrective procedure). The benefits will automatically apply to any medical tourist or expatriate aged – up to 70 years, who undergoes an elective procedure worth more than 50,000 Baht (based on one single invoice/receipt). Non-elective procedures (e.g. emergency, trauma, accidents and critical care) are excluded. It is remarkable that these benefits are being including for all procedures’ within the package prices – no surcharge or extra expense on the part of the patients. Medical tourism, as led by Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI) and Bangkok-Phuket Dental Center, is expected to greatly benefit from this innovative project. The clients will walk away not only with shining confidence, but also with total peace of mind back home.  While in Thailand or once home, they can receive prompt assistance and smooth claims processing anywhere and anytime through 24-hours contact center service.

“As the medical tourism industry grows, healthcare providers are competing for ways to become a premier destination. BDMS Southern Group has determined what matters to the international patients, not only by having excellent medical staff and outcomes but by attending to every patient with the utmost hospitality care and concern. This move will definitely exceed patients’ expectations and provide a level of service that is unsurpassed in the medical tourism industry.  Exciting extra services are also included as part of the benefit program, such as; Electronic Medical Record Storage and Transport Platform, 24/7 Travel Alert and Crisis Management Services,” added Tracy Simons, President of Custom Assurance Placements.
