Sometimes children need allergy testing, just as adults, emphasized by the fact many allergy medications are approved for use in infants as young as six months of age. What should you know about the types of testing available?
Allergy Skin Testing
Many parents believe that their kids have to reach a certain age, like when they start school, before they can get tested for allergies. This is mostly because they think allergy testing, especially skin testing, is painful. skin tests generally aren’t done in children under the age of 6 months. Allergy tests may be less accurate in very young children.
Our skin prick test and blood test can identify 18 and up to 36 allergens respectively.
*For skin prick test, please stop using any medication for allergy and/or runny nose for at least 7 days before the test date.
